We have raised corgis for the last few years, however we have over 20 years experience in raising dogs. We health test all our breed stock. All puppies are born in our home around other dogs and children. We start exposure to strange noises and sights as soon as ears and eye open. Pups stay with us until a minimum of 7wks of age, but some times up to 10wks. Every pup will comes with a starter pack that includes a baggy of food, some treats, toys, shot records and appropriate paperwork.
We raise AKC and CKC pembroke corgis as well as CKC American corgis. American corgis are a cross between pembroke Welch corgis and cardigan Welch corgis. We have colors from standard reds and black tri to merles, bluie, fawn, brindle and sable.
Pembroke and Cardigan corgis are crossed to create American corgis. Through meticulous breeding, only the best qualities of each breed are passed on, and the stunning merle coloring is applied to a more physically Pembroke-like dog. Families can enjoy having American Corgis as pets. They often enjoy playing with kids, and they thrive in the energetic setting of a home with several pets or children. An American Corgi usually weighs 25–35 pounds, is 15–20 inches height, and lives for 12–15 years on average. This breed requires modest coat maintenance and daily activity, like as walks or active play, to keep healthy.
We get this question quite a bit and thought it needed answered and explained.
"Can we come see the puppies in person?"
Our puppies are born and raised in our home. Not in kennels, although we do have small play yards set up for them when they get to an age of exploration. Due to being born and raised in our homes we do not allow strangers to come see the pups in person for various reasons. 1). Puppy immune system that are still developing and are not yet protected from vaccines etc run a higger risk of getting sick. Visitors can inadvertently bring illness into the home on the clothes, hands etc. 2). The health of our mommas is important and visitors can cause stress which releases cortisol and can trigger a biochemical stress response in the puppies through the moms milk. And stressed out moms can accidentally step on or roll on a pup causing injury. 3). Theft is a growing issue and having strangers in the home could lead to theft of puppies, the mommas and our personal processions. 4). Some children (even some adults) are unable to behave appropriately around puppies and this may not be known until its too late and a puppy gets hurt. 5). The safety of our puppies, other pets, family and home will always be more important than a potential sale.
We are glad to send as many pics as someone wants and even videos. If you have any questions, please let us know.
